Window in the Woods

Eagle Audubon Society supports and maintains the Window in the Woods, a tranquil nature sanctuary in Sun City Center.  It is located along the Nature Trail loop around Freedom Plaza and Freedom Fairways Golf Course, on the edge of a 140-acre nature preserve, on a pond surrounded by cypress, oak, and pine trees.  The structure offers a deck and benches to observe the birds and wildlife at the feeders and in the woods around it.

Butterfly Habitat at Camp Bayou

The Eagle Audubon Society also grows and maintains the Butterfly Habitat at the Camp Bayou Outdoor Learning Center, located in the 200-acre Camp Bayou Nature Preserve in Ruskin.  This large Florida native plant garden provides many nectar and host plants that our diverse native butterfly population requires.  The large wooden Gazebo offers a shady spot to sit and watch the butterflies and other pollinators work, and a shell path winds through the garden to invite visitors to explore.
